The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange Limited (TTSE):
- Facilitates the buying and selling of securities.
- Provides a medium for companies to raise capital.
- The TTSE is a limited liability company.
The TTSE is a Self Regulatory Organization (SRO).
- We are responsible for developing rules and guidelines for the operation within the local stock market. These rules and guidelines are followed by the brokerage firms and listed companies.
A Primary Market is where new securities are issued and offered for sale to the public.
An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is an example of a Primary Market. The issuing company receives the cash proceeds from the sale of the security, which are then used to fund business operations.
Prices in the Primary Market are set by the issuing company.
After shares have been issued in the Primary Market and listed on a stock exchange, the shares become available for trading in the Secondary Market.
Prices in the Secondary Market are determined based on the demand and supply of the shares of a company.

The TTSE provides Stockbrokers with an Electronic Trading System called Avvento which is used to enter buy and sell orders and monitor the market.
Trading takes place from 9:30am to 12:00pm from Monday to Friday except on public holidays and Carnival Monday & Carnival Tuesday.
